Elftmann Tactical FAQ

Q: After installing my Elf Trigger I have to manually charge my gun between shots, it has become a single shot rifle.

A: 99% of the time this issue is caused by incorrect installation. Whether anti-walk pins are used or not, the set screws on the inside of the trigger body must be firmly seated against your receiver floor. It is absolutely critical that these screws are seated firmly. Turn one side until it’s barely snug then tighten the other side and alternate so pressure is evenly distributed. We now include a steel floor plate to protect your receiver – optional in aluminum receivers but required for polymer.

Q: After installing my Elf Trigger I’m getting intermittent primer strikes that look like the firing pin is barely tapping the primer and will not ignite the round.

Q: Will an Elftmann Tactical trigger fit my (insert brand and model of rifle here)

A: If your rifle has a standard mil-spec AR-15 fire control pocket, our trigger will fit with few exceptions. (Most .308 lower receivers have a mil-spec fire control pocket as well) The exceptions include manufacturers that have a larger radius at the front of the pocket – our triggers fit, but some material must be removed from the receiver.

Q: When will the AK trigger be released?

A: Prototypes are now being tested with great success – we just want to make sure the trigger will be reliable in most platforms before releasing. In some rifles, minor fitting may be required. We will announce release on our Facebook page. Hopefully it will be sometime second quarter 2015.

Q: I purchased a Curved trigger and would like to try the straight (or vice-versa) Can I purchase just the trigger bar and swap it out?

A: Yes – Please leave your contact information on our “contact us” page and someone will contact you as soon as possible. We don’t sell “ala cart” Elftmann components on the website because some changes and improvements have been made to the triggers over the past year and not all parts are interchangeable.

Q: What is the difference between the Match and 3 Gun triggers?

A: The only difference between the two is the lightened, skeletonized hammer on the 3 Gun trigger. This will slightly shorten the lock time (travel time for the hammer to reach firing pin after release) The take-up, break and overtravel is identical between the two.

Q: I have a Colt rifle with large pins – do you have a trigger for me?

A: Please contact us and we will use bushings that will accommodate the large pins.
